Crescent Park United Methodist Church

From the Pastor's Desk

In 2011, thus far, we have received thirty-four new people into our church family.  We started “live advertising” once a week on a popular local morning Siouxland radio program.  We have continued our second Sunday service with an average of three families in attendance.  We are continuing to develop programs that we can append to our successful Kids 4 Christ ministry.  We are offering an additional program for 6, 7, and 8th grad girls, that is identified as the “Mary Martha Circle.”  In September, we started a new outreach program called T.N.T. (Tuesday Night Together) accommodating Karaoke, fellowship, a free meal and a short devotional message.

This year our yearly giving is projected to increase by 10%.  Since 2007, giving has increased by nearly 100%. We recognize that people give when they are confident that their giving is being directed by God as a means to inspire and transform people’s lives. As we grow in our knowledge of the depth of Christ’s generosity, we become generous people.

We believe that as we grow spiritually we reflect the glory of Christ, inspiring those who witness our transformation to accept God’s grace and join us in our celebration and worship.  We are commissioned by Christ to spread the word of God unto the ends of the earth. The Lord said to the disciples in Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We have responded to this calling identifying various means in which –as a Church- we can spread the Good News of Christ with our community, place of employment, and city.  This year church attendance has increased by 9.7%.  Since 2007, our average attendance has increased by 30%.  The congregation is inspired by our Sunday Services to live lives that clearly reflect the faith, hope and love that is found in the life of Christ.  The unity that has developed within the life of the church bears witness to the power of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to live fully for purpose of God.

The future for Crescent Park will not always be easy.  However, with the glory of Christ lighting our path our future will always be radiant.  We have cause to believe, we have grounds for celebration and we have a strong ambition to achieve that which Christ has set in motion: to proclaim God’s grace with passion that will not be subdued.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

From these words of Christ derive the Mission of Crescent Park United Methodist Church:

"Increasing Love for God and Neighbor"
